More so for me than for Ivan. We are doing a little joy school with 3 other boys in the ward. The first day was today, at our house. I really had a good time getting things ready. Made me realize how much I miss teaching school. Ivan on the other hand... this is how he felt about it.Last night I tried to get him excited. We got his backpack out and I showed him the school supplies we got to put in it. To that he replied, "neah, I just want my toys in it, no school things." Ok that's fine we just left the toys in it. Then I told him I'm going to be his teacher and he said, "well then who's going to be my mom?" Then I told him about the boys coming over in the morning and all he could say was, "well I'm bigger than them." Ok, Ivan, here's the cold, hard fact about that- I really don't think you'll be bigger than most so lets get rid of that thinking and worry about some of your other qualities, cuz "bigger" just aint one of them.
So then this morning he wanted to put on his football clothes and I gently reminded him his friends were coming over for school and he should wear his school clothes and that's when I got a snap shot of the darling crying session on the floor. I really don't care what he wears so I told him it was fine to wear that, but he cried on and then said, "Mom, I'm just not old enough to go to school." You're right, your not. Lets just call it organized play and I get to organize it. He settled when he realized it was at our house. He got some football playing time in before class :) When I took the picture he was out there straddling Jack yelling, "down, set, hike" and then trying to get Jack to say it. Pretty cute it was.
We got a school ready smile
And it all turned out great.
Ivan, Brennen, Jackson & Jack- he was just as big as any of them
(Sam got there a little later)

Good job Becca! Ladies in my ward often do this, but I don't have the patience to participate! So Grant went off to preschool this morning. Luckily he was excited.
ReplyDeleteHope he enjoys it. When Spencer was 3 I had him in a preschool and he hated having to stop playing with his neighborhood friends (we were in Orem) to go to school! So, I never put my other kids in until they were 4, except Nate, since he was the only one home and there's no one else here (since we don't live in a neighborhood) for him to play with!
