Back to the ironing board

I used to iron Mikes shirts and as I stood at the ironing board I would think all sorts of thoughts so I started to blog them under the title, "At the Ironing Board." Actually I probably only blogged twice that way 😆 but I do remember having a lot of thoughts and wanting to blog them.

But then Mike started taking his shirts to the dry cleaner

But now he has stopped taking them to the dry cleaner

So I'm back!

I just can't decide if I want to keep it at the ironing board or change it to the lawn mower? 🤔

I just got done mowing the lawn so for today lets do, "At the Lawn Mower."

As I was mowing it was HOT, so naturally I took off my shirt and let my gut hang out and mowed in my sports bra. (just in the back yard of course) I'll be honest and say it wasn't even a sports bra, it was a nursing bra that sorta looks like a sports bra. Now I know there is a fear in the church that we find too many opportunities to take our garments off. And there could be a buzz in the air about yard work and garments, but I'm sorry folks, gradually I've become an immodest mower.

I've got all sorts of justifications that have gotten me to this point. It's so dang hot and honestly I don't see the need for six layers when doing an activity such as mowing. I don't want to mow at night when it's cooler because I have little time with Mike when he gets home and I don't want either of us mowing during that time. I could spend an hour laying out in my swimsuit right? I'd rather just multitask and do yard work in it.

So as I was mowing in my nursing.... I mean sports bra I started thinking about modesty.  I was thinking about how I want to teach my kids about modesty.

*living in the world that we live in, it's important to me that my kids are comfortable with skin. I don't want my modesty lessons to be about skin showing. I want it to be more about avoiding extreme's and about what message they want to send each morning when they get dressed. As for now, while they are young I just don't actually teach them much. I know that sounds bad, but I just think they are pretty innocent about what they put on and even how they view others. I don't want my boys or my girls hyper focused on it. There was a news article a while back about a boy in high school who was complaining because of the length of the cheer leaders skirts and that it was hard to keep his thoughts clean. I sure hope the cheerleading outfits don't phase my boys too much. We are in trouble if we can't handle a cheer outfit.

* Most things kids watch involve a super hero of some sort. So if they do good then they are the good guy and if they do bad then they are the bad guys. I just don't want my kids learning to label other people "the bad guy" just because they are doing something different than they've been taught.
