Mexico

 Arrival in Can Cun was pretty slick. Flight went good, someone from the resort was there to greet us at the airport and take us straight to the resort. The kids of course wanted to check out the pool. Some how we missed the sign that said, "no night swimming" and we jumped right in for some "night swimming."We were amazed we had the pool to ourselves.  We understood the next morning when we noticed the sign.

We also had plenty of day swimming. It's sort of weird to fly all the way to Mexico to spend most of our time in the resort pool. We looked at the ocean, but only played in it for a bit. We had lots of food at the buffet and plenty of drinks by the pool.  Mike loved not having to drive around and decide on  places to eat. We both really enjoyed the kids getting to experience some things out of their comfort zone. Emery and Ivan weren't sure about coming in the first place, because they didn't want to miss so much school.  Of course they were glad they did, once we got there.  We really only left the resort one day for an excursion. The kids weren't sure about that either.   Our first stop was repelling down into a Cenote. Jack was NOT going to do it. All the way up to the top of the hill he was telling me he wasn't going to do it. And he was getting pretty mad about it Kate was nervous and in tears as the workers hooked her gear up. She did it though. And Jack too. I was so proud of them both. Jack made it down and was glad he tried it.  We also zip lined through the tree's and into water in the cave.  We got to participate in an ancient Myan ceremony in one of the Cenotes and them come out to an authentic Mexican lunch. We couldn't really take pictures during the ceremony and I don't really have the words to describe it, but  it was beautiful/magical in that particular cave. The water was so blue and reflection like mirrors all over. It was so clear and so amazing to look at. The ceremony/ritual was different and something special to be a part of. The lunch was delicious. We were under a tent structure with some wood stoves and a fire and some women making everything from scratch. The last stop was a cave we were able to jump into and swim around in. The tour guide took us in with snorkeling gear and we made a loop around the cave and came out the other side. Mike stayed out at the entrance with the girls. The boys and I went through. We loved every minute of it.

The last part of our excursion was visiting Tulum. It probably wasn't the kids favorite part, a lot of walking around and looking at ancient ruins. I think it's pretty dang cool to see something still standing from so long ago and to hear bits and pieces about the civilization and how it was set up. 

The one other main activity we did was swimming with dolphins. Again, the kids did NOT want to do it. They just wanted to swim. Again, the kids ended up LOVING it. 

We ended the trip with a few tears of sadness from the girls, a very long, warm, stuffy van ride that resulted in throw up from Kate. Some how I caught the majority of it in a jacket and we were able to pull over and throw it away. The smell the rest of the way was delightful, however we did find that the vents were closed and  so we opened then and were able to get some air. The flight home went well until we landed and I looked over and Ivan had to use the bathroom so bad he was actually crying. 

Landed back to the Utah's snow and cold. 

Hopefully we'll get back  to Can Cun again some day.
