What if?

What if EVERYONE put up Christmas lights?
Think of how magical that would be to drive around during the holidays. An amazing sight for sure.

What if you didn't just buy yourself or your kids things throughout the year and we only got things on Christmas and birthdays?
Think of how rewarding gift giving would be. Everyone would be so appreciative of their gifts, because they have been waiting for so long to get it. Your kids would probably take better care of and appreciate their toys more if they didn't get new ones all the time. You've heard the expression, "I don't know what to get him, because when he wants something he just goes and gets it." What if you didn't do that?

  1. I would LOVE it if everyone would put up Christmas lights!! (I would especially love it if my husband would put them up!)

We are kind of like that in our house- we don't really buy many things besides the essentials of living on a regular basis. It's very rare for our kids to get new toys outside of their birthdays and Christmas. They are always really excited about their gifts- no matter what they are! And we always wait until Christmas to buy ourselves basics like new clothes, socks, measuring spoons because ours have been broken for months, etc. It's fun on Christmas but hard during the year to have to wear jeans with a hole in the knee while waiting for Christmas!!

  2. I agree with you and I'll go you one more. What if there were no such things as "Christmas Lists," and kids (and adults) didn't get to choose what they got as gifts? Actually, that's how it was in our house growing up and I love and miss it. We never knew we were getting some popular toy we saw on TV, and our parents never had to scramble around to find something because we would flip out if we didn't get the thing we demanded on our Christmas list. Instead, we waited, breathlessly, to see what we got and were grateful we got anything at all. Sorry to be preachy :) but I think kids are calling all the shots these days. Why even bother unwrapping Christmas presents if the kids already know what they're getting? Why not just buy it for them and hand it over? Anyway, good ideas!
