These boots aren't made for walking....

Mike took the boys skiing Saturday
 They had a great time
Ivan came home and played in his basketball game that night
The next morning, as we were sitting in church he was telling me his ankles were itching really bad. Then he showed me his fingers and they looked swollen. Then he was complaining about his knee hurting and feeling swollen.

When we got home and looked, his ankles were swollen too and he had these huge red marks on going around the ankle and up his leg
(of course the picture doesn't do it justice)

and on the top of his feet

It really startled us and we didn't know what to think. It seemed like one thing at a time was swelling and so I was worried it would keep going. We considered an allergic reaction to something? I wondered if it was from his ski boots? but that didn't seem to fit the knee and fingers? Frost bite? blood circulation cut off for too long? Athletes foot from the rented boot? By the end of the night he was in tears just at the slightest touch on his ankles.

The next morning he was totally fine.
The red is still there, but looks more like a bruise. We've concluded that it was those darn ski boots. He must have had them too tight or the style of the boot really rubbed him wrong. He'll have some really nice bruises for the next little bit, but I'm glad it's not one of the wild diseases my brain was conjuring up!
