Mike was invited on the sales trip with work again This year. We decided to ditch the kids this time 😉 No, we would have LOVED to take them and do all the fun things we got to do last year, it just wasn't in the budget. You'll notice as you browse through we have no cool picture of dolphins or whales jumping. Just lot of scenery.
We flew in Saturday night. Sunday we had breakfast at the hotel and browsed the shops. Watched the super bowl and then Merrit had a nice dinner out back of our hotel, over looking the ocean. We sat with and laughed with Raul and his wife Jenna and also Marie and her sister and sisters husband. I hope I always remember Marie's car story. AND the way she tells it.
It took a minute to disconnect from home
Monday Mike had a work meeting so I ordered me a yummy Acai bowl and ate it by the beach.
After his meeting we had lunch at the Monkey Pod, hung out a bit and then explored out by the lava rocks. You see a few "free birds" living out of their vehicles on the drive out there. (van is one. Can't see it very good)
Tuesday we took the "Road to Hanna" the very LOOONNNG and narrow road to Hanna. A few stops along the way to a waterfall, a flower garden, look outs, dinner amd then into the nationl park
On the way back
Wednesday Mike had a morning meeting. It may have been Valentines? I can't remember exactly. After his meeting we drove to Lahaina, up to the blow hole, back to eat at a place called "Down the Hatch" and then got some shaved Ice at Ululani's.
Thursday we were scheduled to go kayaking, but it was canceled due to the weather. We instead shared an açaà bowl on the windy, cold beach and then decided to go in so Mike could work and I can't remember what I did. Probably the hotel shops. We then did a zip line that was fun, but not anything special. A tad anti-climactic. Ate Mexican food and got some ice cream
Friday we rented kayaks at the hotel and went out on our own. We did see whales, but they were WAY out there. Mike tried to snorkel, but the water was too dirty so we showered and met Raul (and Jenna) and Marie (and party) at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.
Saturday we ventured back over to Lahaina for a submarine tour. Walked around the shops and found some keychains for the kids, but couldn't get them, because surprisingly they had Ivan, Emery and Kate, but no Jack. 😑
Last year we had this yummy hula pie on Ivans birthday. Mike and I wanted to go back and have a piece. We went to the restaurant, ordered our food and couldn't see the pie for dessert. When we left the restaurant and walked two buildings down we noticed the correct restaurant with the correct hula pie dang it. We ate at the wrong place. We went back to the hotel. Laid around the pool and the beach and then went to the airport
