Octobers mammogram

Last October I decided to go in for my 1st mammogram. I am 48 after all.  They did see a spot and biopsied it. It was fine. I went back this year and again, they saw something. This time in the other side. They took a biopsy and said they would call with results in a couple of days. The next day or so I took Kate to tumbling and while waiting in the parking lot decided to log into my patient portal to see if the results had been posted. They had been and I tried to sift through all the medical terms looking for something I could understand. There is was,  "invasive ductal carcinoma." I was pretty sure that was cancer, but texted  my dermatologist nephew Kristian to double check.  I was right. Complete surprise. Never woulda thought I'd end up with breast cancer.

I've been involved in our ward as the Relief Society president for the past 3 yrs and I was just released a couple weeks before I went in for the mammogram. I am sad to be done, but now I know it's probably a good thing I don't have to worry about that right now. When the doctor called with results I let him know that I already knew it was cancer. He sounded positive and thought they could just go in and remove the tumor. That sounds good enough to me. We do need to get an appointment with an oncologist for better information about it.
