I go in every week for 12 weeks to do the Chemotherapy. Every 3rd week they will add the Trastuzamab. There is so much information out there about alternative methods of treatment and so many people to share them with you and I wish I knew more or was brave enough to try different things. My dad is very adamant about not doing Chemo- but I just feel like I don't have time to try natural remedies. I have 4 kids and a good husband and I don't want to come back in a year if something else didn't work. I know Chemo is horrible for you, but I also know there are statistics showing its affectedness soooooo I guess I'll go ahead with it. Everyone has been so helpful at the hospital. It's really nice when you don't really know what's going on. I have a mediator assigned to me, who calls and lets me know what appointments I need to be making or makes them for me or answers questions we have. I'm glad we went with American Fork hospital, because it's small and a little more cozy.
Before coming in I put numbing cream on the port sight so I won't feel it when they poke the needle in. They draw blood upon arrival and then I wait about an hour for the lab to read the bloodwork and make sure all my levels are high enough to receive the treatment. They give me a benedryl and something for nausea. When the ok come back from the lab then they just start the drip-line. The Chemo only take about 40 min and the Trastuzamab takes about an hour. I've got a new blanket, my airpods, a good book Jamie gave me, some water, snacks and i'm all set.
